Omar’s Pirate Mayhem
At the dead of night, Omar woke up. “Charlie! Daniel! Wake
up! Wake up now! Our journey must begin!” he whispered to
his friends. Instantly the two woke up. It was time for their
secret night adventure to begin.
They tiptoed down the stairs in silence. Omar grabbed the
map and filled their rucksacks with food. Strawberries,
bananas, bread, onions and some apple smoothie. Charlie
and Daniel set up their wooden boat, which they called
‘Charomdan 03’ and they dumped their stuff on there.
Omar’s family moved homes again and now lived by the
seaside. Omar’s dream was to go sailing and dig up
treasure on a faraway island. It was still dark when they
started their journey. The waves were as high as mountains
but if they wanted to find the treasure, they would have to
face their biggest sea fears ever.
Omar and his friends finally settled down on their boat. The
vast, raging waves fought their boat and tossed it here and
there like a pebble being kicked about. Omar and Charlie
shivered as they huddled together frightened. Meanwhile,
Daniel jumped up excitedly. “This is so much fun! Let’s eat!”
he exclaimed. He munched on whatever he could find,
danced about and then sang random songs about food until
they all fell asleep.
The next morning, they all woke up groggy. “We’re in the
Pacific Ocean now!” announced Daniel.
“How do you know huh?” yawned Charlie.
“I asked Siri!” replied Daniel, holding up his smartphone.
“Siri won’t even know that silly!” Omar rolled his eyes.
“Yes, he does!” Daniel stubbornly protested.
“Isn’t it ‘she’?” Charlie remarked.
“No!” shouted Daniel.
“Guys stop it. That’s enough Siri arguments, let’s eat!” Omar
said.
He walked over to the bags to get food but all he found
were onions and the apple smoothie. “Guys, sorry but
breakfast shall have to be plain onions and the apple
smoothie because someone has eaten everything else!”
Omar said.
Daniel turned bright red with remorse. They all grimaced
and took a bite of the onions.
Daniel reached for the apple smoothie. “Eeww!” Daniel spat
the green drink out! “Bleurgh! Yuck! What in the world was
that flavour?” Daniel cried.
Omar checked the drink. It wasn’t apple smoothie; it was his
dad’s spinach and ginger smoothie! Omar groaned. “Oh
great! What a mess!”
Charlie excitedly changed the topic. “Look, guys! We’re
nearly at the island!”
They turned the boat and sailed a bit more. They finally
reached the island. Omar and his friend walked around the
beautiful island. “Let’s eat!” wailed Daniel, eyeing the
coconut trees.
“Daniel, this is not an eating adventure!” scowled Charlie.
Omar started digging up the sand. He finally dug up the old,
battered, wooden treasure chest. As Omar was about to lift
the lid, they heard a sudden bang! Boom! Bang! There was a
sudden explosion. They all looked around, not knowing
where the sound came from. Feeling horrified and shaken
up, they grabbed the box and ran to their boat.
Very soon, they were safely on their boat, floating back on
the calm, peaceful sea. Omar was clutching the treasure
box. “I wonder what’s inside?” he said excitedly.
“I bet it is gold and diamonds! We’ll be rich you know!”
Daniel replied, proudly.
Hours passed and the sun had started setting. When they
got to the shore, they took their stuff and went to the
house. Omar knocked on the door uncontrollably.
Mum opened the door, and a sudden reaction of shock and
relief appeared on her face. “Omar! Charlie! Daniel! You
guys are back! I was so worried when I found you missing! I
had no words to say to Charlie and Daniel’s parents when
they came to pick them up!” Mum said crossly. “Where have
you guys been? I was so worried!” Mum added, still in shock.
“We were digging up treasure!” Daniel boasted.
“Treasure!” scowled Mum in disbelief. “There’s no such
thing! Nonsense! Very funny boys!” Mum said, her face cross
and extremely serious.
Omar took out the treasure box as evidence. “Oh my! Wow!
I can’t wait to see what’s inside! I’d better invite Mrs Rogers
over so she can see too. Great discovery boys!” Mum
excitedly cried, her mood suddenly changing.
Seconds later, everyone, including Mrs Rogers, were
gathered around the table.
“Go on. Open it then! Let’s see what you silly boys found
eh?” Omar’s older sister Maryam teased as she rolled her
eyes.
The three boys finally lifted the lid slowly. Everyone stared in
disbelief at what they saw. “A sweet! A sweet in a treasure
box!” Maryam scoffed. Omar, Charlie, and Daniel exchanged
shocked looks.
“This is so weird! Usually there would be precious things in
there!” Daniel said.
“It is strange. I don’t know,” Omar sighed as he walked into
Maryam’s room to fetch his Xbox from her drawer.
As he opened the drawer, he noticed a wooden box in there.
He curiously lifted the lid and peered inside. He stared wideeyed at what was in the box. There, in the box, lay hundreds
of gold coins and one diamond.
“Guys come quickly!” Omar cried. Charlie and Daniel came
running. “Look at this!” Omar said crossly. “Maryam
swapped the real treasure for this tiny sweet! She probably
found the treasure before us! She must have made that
map and took the original map. She loves to fool us!” Omar
shouted.
“And be selfish!” Daniel added.
“Let’s take her treasure and split it between us!” Charlie
whispered.
“What about the sweet? Who should have it? We can’t split
it up!” Daniel asked.
Omar thought for a moment and laughed. “Hmm… I think
Maryam should have that! After all, that’s what she
deserves!”
